Elementary Education Scholarship Fund

Through the generous individual gifts from one member family, a new Elementary Education Scholarship Fund has been established at St. John’s, to provide tuition assistance to eligible families of children attending St. John’s Lutheran School. Financial aid will be based on family need, the number of requests, and the availability of funds and will be administered by the Board of Education. This Fund provides a wonderful opportunity for a meaningful contribution to continue the legacy of solid, Lutheran doctrine-based education to our young people in grades K-8. If you are interested in learning more about this new Fund or in making a contribution to the Fund, please contact a scholarship committee member.

Fund Information

Fund Purpose:  To provide tuition assistance to eligible families of children attending St. John’s Lutheran School. Financial aid is awarded based on family need, the number of requests, and availability of funds.

Eligibility Criteria:  Eligible families must be members of St. John’s Lutheran Church or another Lutheran Church Missouri Synod congregation, have at least one child enrolled at St. John’s Lutheran School for the coming school year in grades K-8, and must demonstrate a financial need. Scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis, therefore applicants must re-apply each year to be eligible for the coming school year. Requirements for all scholarships require maintenance of passing grades, satisfactory behavior, and current tuition payment.

Fund Financing:  This Educational Scholarship Fund has been established and is maintained through individual gifts, memorials, and contributions. The Scholarship Committee will make every effort to preserve and retain the fund in order to provide continued tuition assistance. In the event that scholarships are not awarded in a given school year, the funds will be carried over.

Application Process

Scholarship Application and Evaluation Process:  The Scholarship Committee, with the approval of the Board of Education, will administer all aspects of this Scholarship Fund including the approval and disbursement of all scholarships.

Scholarship applications will be accepted between February 1 and March 31 for the following school year. Applications must be submitted using the current Scholarship Application Form. All applications must be signed by at least one parent or legal guardian and submitted along with the standard registration fees for the coming school year. Applications will be considered and reviewed during April and May by the Scholarship Committee. All scholarship awards must be formally approved by the Board of Education. Scholarship recipients will be notified in writing by May 31.

Scholarship awards will be based solely upon the merits of individual applications versus the Eligibility Criteria specified above, the available dollars in the Fund and the overall number of scholarship applications submitted.

Payment Process:  Scholarship checks will be made payable to St. John's Lutheran School, and will decrease the tuition due from recipient families for the coming school year. Adjustments will be made to each recipient family’s Annual Tuition Statement (typically sent with Back-to-School packets in July) for scholarships awarded from this Fund.
